In a movie review on September 18, 2013 entitled DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE UNRATED CUT AND THE THEATRICAL CUT, Senor Zoidbergo wrote, “The Unrated Cut runs about 7 minutes longer than the Theatrical Cut, and primarily contains additional action shots (nothing major).Director Marc Forster has said that the Theatrical Cut IS the Director’s Cut, which also unfortunately means that we will not be seeing any footage from the discarded Battle of Moscow (except for a few quick scenes in the closing montage) and the Matthew Fox subplot. The UNRATED Cut is the one to get!It contains slightly more gore (but not gratuitously so) than the Theatrical Cut, and the action scenes are more fluid and less choppy.I’ve listed the primary differences between the Unrated Cut and the Theatrical Cut below.Note, SPOILERS follow below, so read at your own risk.1) When zombies are shot/stabbed/curb stomped/etc.., they spew CG black blood. When people are bitten, there’s more CG red blood.2) During the opening scene in Philadelphia, there are more scenes of pandemonium and zombies getting…”

In a movie review on July 8, 2014 entitled The cop was about the only character I liked, and they’ve killed her off, Michael D. Mann “very disgusted” wrote, “This was a bit of a mess. The cop was about the only character I liked, and they’ve killed her off. The magnetic properties of the dome didn’t make any sense whatsoever. The interactions between some of the characters seem haphazard. It’s feeling a lot like many Stephen King novels and story adaptations do eventually–severe loss of focus and wandering around in “pointless oddness.” This is why I typically prefer his short stories, which are much more taut. Even “The Stand” suffers from this, in some respects, and I love that book. It’s a very weak start to the second season, and I am not optimistic it will improve. As I haven’t read the novel, I don’t know if this is a problem with the story itself or with the screen adaptation.0″

In a movie review on January 5, 2014 entitled Unexpected Excellence, ScotFlower wrote, “I went to the theater expecting the usual dumb kids movie, and was blown away.I LOVED this film and instantly added the DVD to my wishlist.Honestly, my favorite movies are The Hunt for the Red October, Galaxy Quest, Pixar’s Incredibles, Princess Bride, Ponyo, Sound of Music, and Lord of the Rings Extended Editions.I gravitate to no particular genre, but only to what I find are the absolute best movies.Frozen is up there with the best movies I have ever seen. Period. Why is this film so good?1. It teaches real love.Love is about putting the other person’s needs first.Love is shown in your actions not your words.I am so floored that a kids movie actually taught this and even took the time to point out you never get engaged or married to a guy you just met.WOW… a Disney film not about being swept off your feet by a guy in 3 seconds? Its about time.2. The side kick characters are not annoying…. seriously!!Its like the difference…”

The Neverending Story [HD], directed by Wolfgang Petersen, featuring Noah Hathaway and Barret Oliver, finds itself at #4 on our list and has achieved a solid ranking in our list of top ten movie rentals. Does this show deserve its place on the list? Read these reviews and find out!
In a movie review on October 26, 2004 entitled “He is very close, listening to every word we say.”, M. Hart “Sci-Fi Fan” wrote, “In 1994, Wolfgang Petersen directed the film adaptation of the German novel “Die Unendliche Geschichte”, which was written by Michael Ende (1929-1995).The film/novel is better known in the U.S. with its English title of “The Neverending Story”.It was also the first film that Wolfgang Petersen filmed in English. The story begins with a troubled boy named Bastian (Barret Oliver), who is being raised by his father (Gerald McRaney). An avid reader with an active imagination, Bastian walks into a used bookstore owned by Mr. Koreander (Thomas Hill) and finds a mysterious book that captures his curiosity.Mr. Koreander seemingly doesn’t want to sell the book to him, but Bastian manages to run from the store with book in hand.Bastian takes the book to school with him, where he is tormented by three bullies (Drum Garrett, Darryl Cooksey & Nicholas Gilbert). To avoid the bullies, Bastian finds refuge in a rarely-used attic within the school and begins to read from the book about a…”

Star Trek Into Darkness [HD], directed by J. J. Abrams, featuring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, holds spot #5 on our list of top online movie rentals today. Should it be in this spot? Some think so, others say no. Here is the latest review:
In a movie review on September 2, 2013 entitled Special features are all split up between vendor exclusive, K. Noonchester wrote, “The official Blu-ray has seven mini-featurettes. If this seems like it is a half-assed release, it’s because Paramount has divvied up all the other features, including the commentary tracks with the cast and director J.J. Abrams, and several additional featurettes. The list of missing content on the U.S. wide-release Blu-ray (which is what is being sold on Amazon) includes 5 more featurettes (The Journey Continues… Again, Rebuilding the Enterprise, Full of Wrath, Kirk & Spock and Visual Preferences), plus the commentary with J.J. Abrams and the crew and a theatrical trailer. The featurettes and trailer are likely what’s on the Bonus Discs at Target and Best Buy and the CinemaNow downloads (Best Buy U.S. appears to have its content via CinemaNow download while the same content is on a Bonus Disc in Canada), and the commentary is obviously with iTunes. All this means, if you buy the “normal version” here on Amazon, you’re getting less than half the special features created for the…”

In a movie review on October 26, 2006 entitled Even superlatives aren’t enough, Wheelchair Assassin wrote, “Over the last two decades I’ve watched a great deal of television, maybe even more than the average for my generation, and out of all of it The Wire is doubtless the most challenging and important show I’ve ever seen, leaving even other classics like The Shield and The Sopranos in its dust, and this first season remains its defining document. All thirteen of these episdoes are filled with amazingly detailed and complex storytelling, sharp characterization, and endless insights into the nature of modern crime and punishment–and they’re mighty exciting to watch, to boot. The whole season covers the participants in a single case, as an impromptu squad of cops is assembled to bring down the housing-project drug empire of Avon Barksdale and Stringer Bell, but the implications of the investigation, and the show’s ambitions, stretch far beyond one tiny front in the interminable drug war.We watch the case, built almost entirely on electronic surveillance (hence the title) come together…”

Episode 1 (Original UK Edition) [HD] is positioned at #7 . When asked, “what is the best movie rental?”, many have chosen this. Do you agree with their assestment. Read what other movie fans say below:
In a movie review on September 22, 2013 entitled Downton Goes From Strength to Strength, Brett H “pentangle” wrote, “With a global audience of over 125 million, Downton Abbey Season 4 is probably the most anticipated show this year. This number of followers is set to increase as Chinese State TV has, apparently, just started to broadcast it, although what the average Chinese television viewer will make of the antics of the Crawleys I shudder to think! This time round we pick up six months on from the tragic end to the Series 3 Christmas Special.Downton has moved with the times, and, as usual, great care has been taken to make the setting, including all the small details, correct for the period.Hence clothes and hair styles have changed and advances in technology, such as the telephone and even new fangled electric kitchen gadgets are evident. The cast has all the significant characters who survived the last series, so Maggie Smith continues as the matriarch who dominates every scene she is in, and Shirley MacLaine makes a welcome reappearance after her all too brief involvement in…”

In a movie review on May 22, 2006 entitled Excellent, N. Durham “Big Evil” wrote, “Rome, HBO’s ambitious, and expensive, series revolving around the events leading up to the assassination of Julius Caesar (Ciaran Hinds), is a sight to behold.Created and filmed by a plethora of talented individuals (including legendary film maverick John Milius), Rome is brought to life with a fantastic set design that must be seen to be believed; it’s as if the city is breathing. The story follows two of Caesar’s soldiers (Ray Stevenson and Trainspotting’s Kevin McKidd) who find themselves throughout many events in Roman history, beginning with inadvertantly rescuing Octavian (Max Pirkis), being lost at sea, assisting Cleopatra (in more than one way, this episode will leave you laughing) and Caesar’s struggle with Pompey Magnus (Kenneth Cranham).Despite some historical inaccuracies, Rome is everything you’d come to expect from an HBO series: rich characterizations, an engrossing story, and a superbly assembled, large cast (including James Purefoy as Marc Antony, Kerry Condon,…”

The Frozen Ground [HD], directed by Scott Walker, featuring Nicolas Cage and John Cusack, is positioned at #9 . When asked, “what is the best movie rental?”, many have chosen this. Do you agree with their assestment. Read what other movie fans say below:
In a movie review on September 7, 2013 entitled Honest and Real, Judy Otteson “J.O.” wrote, “I had hoped for just one thing:that this movie would NOT glorify the persons involved, the crimes committed, nor the place wherethey occurred. I wasn’t disappointed, for it was not a “glorified” time in our city.Rather, it was a lengthy span of too many months, seasoned with fairly regular, albeit minimal, media blurps that yet another girl had “gone missing.”"The Frozen Ground” has captured the ambience of those sinister times when we learned to question who we knew and where and how they were spending their time away from the comforts of home and hearth. Amongst ourselves, we spoke in near whispers about common friends with quirky personalities, as we waited for the next “announcement” of a body found, or of a dancer who didn’t show up for work. For all of its horrors, this is a grim and quiet film — the story of a quiet investigation of a quiet businessman with a terrifying secret life. Alaska’s magnificent wilderness plays an honest role, too:cold, dark,…”

The LEGO Movie, directed by Phil Lord, featuring Chris Pratt and Will Ferrell, holds spot #10 on our list of top online movie rentals today. Should it be in this spot? Some think so, others say no. Here is the latest review:
In a movie review on February 17, 2014 entitled One of those rare movies that’s equally entertaining to kids and adults, Rob Slaven “slavenrm@gmail. com” wrote, “We saw this movie because my 8-year-old said, “Daddy, can we go see The Lego Movie?!” so away we went.So to the question of entertainment value, as I said in the subject line, the adults and kids both seemed highly entertained. We were in a full theatre and one gentleman in particular seemed to be outrageously entertained with his incontinent guffawing. The kids were, of course, entertained enough and the movie had humor working on all levels from the youngest kids to the adults, though nothing REALLY adult, if you get my drift. As to production quality of the movie, I was extremely impressed with the level of visual detail. I had assumed that since the Lego world is, of necessity, rather low resolution, that the movie might be clunky but they didn’t shy away from high-definition situations. Seeing Legos animated into an undulating ocean, explosions, fire or billowing smoke and dust was particularly surprising. In a similar vein, if you go see this movie be sure…”
